Formerly referred to as the Maine Hunting Shoe, the Bean Boot is synonymous with L.L.Bean. As the story goes, the legendary boot was born from a hunting trip that left founder Leon Leonwood Bean with cold, damp feet and a revolutionary idea. But it was far from an instant success: 90 of the first 100 pairs suffered from separating bottoms and uppers. Bean perfected the design with a more durable rubber reinforced with triple-line stitching, a foundation that has remained largely unchanged over a century later. And the best part?
